We had a lovely Christmas Party today to celebrate the season and the year we have shared together. This year we catered for ourselves with everyone bringing something to eat and a Secret Santa gift of fabric.
It was so relaxing to be in our usual hall just chatting with each other and putting up two displays. We had a hanging of Mystery Table Runners made in the last few weeks which added a lot of colour. And we had our Christmas Challenge. This year the challenge was set by Alison and it was to make a baby quilt for a stillborn. The little quilts were lovely and we hope they will bring some comfort to a grieving parent somewhere.
After a delicious morning tea we went out onto the enclosed verandha to play some games while the lunch tables were set up. Simple games and jokes provided us with lots of laughs.
The lunch was beautiful – turkey, ham and terrific salads followed by pavlova, trifle, fruit salad and tarts. You wouldn’t get a better Christmas lunch anywhere!! A big thanks to all the cooks.
Later on we had the winners of the Viewer’s Choice Christmas Challenge – Marcia, Marlene and Heather. Elizabeth, our president, made a presentation to Wilga in appreciation of all her workshops throughout the year. Lastly we had Secret Santa and lovely fabric emerged from every parcel.
A big thank you to the organisers – Robyne, Claudette and Marie and other helpers on the day. It was a splendid party.
