Tuesday 21st April

Not a big turn out today but we still had fun. Wilga demonstrated some special rulers belonging to Helen. One of the terrific things about Wilga is her ability to figure out how to use most tools and do most techniques.

First we had the bias cutting ruler with 45 degree ends which you can align on the fabric edge and cut your true bias strips. The ruler is also great for marking crosshatch quilting lines.

The second ruler was a 6″ square called Pinwheel Magic. This ruler had instructions for three different uses and with some concentration would be quite easy to use but I would lay off the white wine!!!

Next we saw the Flip La K rulers which cut out positive and negative images and would make interesting designs for table runners or even a quilt.

Lastly we watched as Wilga showed us the binding joining ruler. This worked well but had a number of steps and most of our members have their own quick way to join bindings on the diagonal.

A big thank you to Wilga for her time and instruction and to Helen for the rulers. We may even have a “What do I do with This Ruler?” day to see who has found the weirdest ruler.

Great to have our president with us. Claudette has injured her back and we wish her a speedy recovery. We also had Show and Tell from Fay and Robyne. Fay had her beautiful flowers made with Fabric Shrinking Texture Magic. Robyne had a lovely crazy patchwork folder cover inspired by Wilga’s recent workshop.
