We are home from our quilting retreat to Evan’s Head and a fine time was had by all. With a spacious hall to spread out in and yummy things to eat we were soon into the sewing each morning, then noon and even one night session for some.
Koinonia is such a peaceful place that it is easy to just concentrate on sewing and of course friendship. Encouragement and showing an interest and working together are the basics of a quilting retreat. Oh and don’t forget the great dinners at the RSL Club where we were made most welcome on both nights.
Fay, Alison and Robyne worked together on a beautiful rose quilt for Open Day. It was soon together and after a little binding glitch soon finished. Well done girls. Elizabeth worked away quilting the signature quilt from 2014. This is looking lovely and should be ready for the Exhibition. Colleen made a terrific quilt with a modern edge and Helen finished off a quilt and did some itsy bitsy piecing. Diane got her pink quilt top together and it looks very pretty while Marcia did some great applique blocks. Robyne learnt how to do thread painting from Fay who passed the time helping us all. Alison made a mini quilt top and a larger one while Barbara was busy with black, white and red doing a rails quilt. Marlene was also in black, white and red but her’s was a stack and whack. Wilga quietly sewed away making beautiful blocks for her wedding ring quilt. We were all pleased with the progress made.
All the funny things and mishaps are secret retreaters business!!! I highly recommend a quilting retreat to anyone who enjoys company while they sew. See more photos on the Retreat Page.
