We held an Open Day today with the aim of getting some new members and spreading the “patchwork is fun” message. It was our first sewing day this winter and a cold morning stayed chilly all day. Inside through we were warm in the glow of friendship and how lovely it was to see so many of our quilting pals. Former member Beth came and also late in the day a special visit from Betty who is very ill. She just wanted to come and see her friends and the quilts.
The display of the travelling exhibition called “Mini Modern” was very well received. These small quilts were masterly done with great attention to design principles and elements.
Our Rose Quilt raffle raised $200 for the Cancer Council. The trading table was busy with lots of people grabbing a bargain and visitors showed a lot of interest in the demonstrations of patchwork being done by members. A delicious morning tea was provided by the members and I for one ate cake all day!!!
Well done everyone. It was a very happy day.
