Tuesday 11th August

Another fun day of stitching and bitching!!! Just joking, we had a very nice time together. Our president led us through preparations for Daffodil Day to be held next week so there is a lot to be done.

Liz Imrie held a mini workshop on colour and advised us that colour is a very personal thing. What one person loves another may not even like. There are however principles about colour that help us understand why some colours look good together and others clash. To know about tints and shades and understand colour value will certainly help us when putting fabric together for a patchwork project. Many thanks Liz for the effort you put in and your great information.

Our new member Helen had a beautiful quilt top for Show and Tell. This wonderful quilt in civil war reproduction fabrics was a great example of the use of a restricted colour pallet at its very best. See also Diane’s fibre art bowl on the workshops page.

As I will be away for a few weeks we will have guest blogger Colleen starting next week.
