Tuesday 17th November

Today we did our long awaited Boro Workshop with Jane MacDonald. Some of us did a wall hanging and others did a purse. Before we started Diane showed us her beautiful Christmas table runner and Helen G. showed us her Christmas bunting.

We started off the workshop with Jane’s ‘Pop Up’ shop where she had many beautiful things, all Japanese themed, for sale and many members took advantage of this opportunity to buy at leisure.

We then enjoyed a delicious morning tea provided by the members. We enjoyed a brief show and tell by Jane and then she showed us how to go about “BORO”. This art of Japanese patching could be very addictive I feel.

Finally it was time to open our kits and get to work with our patchy layouts. We soon had needles busy as we stitched rows of running stitches to hold it all together. Hands and shoulders were sore by the end of the day.

A big thank you to Jane and her friend for their friendly tutoring and enthusiasm. Also to Linda who set out the morning tea and lunch and did the dishes enabling us to get on with our workshop.

What a great day of friendship and learning we spent. It was so nice to welcome Beth back for the day and Colleen’s daughter Cheryl. What can be nicer than friends and family stitching together.

See Workshop page for some more pictures and a brief outline of the technique. I will also put a link to Jane’s website which is well worth a look.

For those interested Jane will be teaching at the Northern Rivers Workshop at Lennox Head next September 8th – 11th 2016. Contact Cally on 66876542.
