Tuesday 14th February

A Happy Valentine’s Day to all!!

We had chocolates and heart shaped biscuits as a treat for morning tea. Thank you Janet for the biscuits and Bob for two boxes of chocolates.

Some lovely Show and Tell today. Linda has finished a scrap quilt she has named ‘Bubble and Squeak’ which uses the Light in a Window block. The colours just sparkle and the back is pieced too. Beautiful job Linda.

Chris brought in her lovely William Morris quilt top she has made as a BOM. The applique is just perfect and the border looks wonderful. Great work Chris.

Wilga also had a nearly finished quilt to show us. This is her second version of the Sampler Quilt she taught us a few years ago. The original was blue and white and starred at the Sydney Quilt Show. This one is bolder in colour but just as lovely. Amazing work Wilga.

The art quilters enjoyed a show and tell session with Mary Williams. Mary has been art quilting since 2001 and has done heaps of workshops. Her knowledge is extensive and it was great to hear her explanations of each piece and the techniques she employed. We are all enthused and will have some amazing creations for March. Some more pictures on the Art Quilt page.

Claudette tells us that the $2000 main prize at the LCACA  Arts and Crafts Festival will this year include art quilts, photography and fine art. What are the chances????

Claudette also has an inspiring challenge idea but I will leave that to her to tell us about it. Watch this space!!!
