Tuesday 2nd May

What a great turnout today. The sign on page was almost full. We were very fortunate today to enjoy a workshop presented by Mary Williams. It was felt applique inspired by Wendy Williams and Sue Spargo.

We had choices of flowers, leaves and animals as well as a variety of felt colours and special threads. Mary kindly supplied some felt and threads for the first timers. She also gave us a heap of handy hints to help us have a good outcome and demonstrated some useful stitches and cutting techniques. I’m sure we will be seeing lots of items featuring this intriguing applique style. Many thanks for sharing with us Mary. See our first efforts in the photo further down this post.

We also had ‘show and tell’ from Fay, one of our life members. Firstly she displayed her beautiful cream on cream quilt which was so special and had great quilting. Fay also had a ‘Dala’ horse in traditional red. This motif was featured in our April newsletter.

We were all saddened to hear of the passing of our dear Marie’s husband in Western Australia. Our kindest thoughts are with her and her family at this sad time.

Next week we are having a Mum’s Day morning tea and also a mentoring session with our art quilters. Don’t forget the final payment for the Deborah Louie workshop is due.
