Its been a very quilty kind of time, Many of our members travelled to Brisbane for the Brisbane Craft and Quilt Fair. There is nothing quite like a major Quilt Show and Fair to inspire and motivate (and to empty the bank account).
The Quilts in the actual Quilt show were magnificent, but due to copyright issues we are not permitted to reproduce photos here, so you will just have to take my word for it. There is , however, as far as I know, no restriction on publishing the retail side of the event and there cerainly was plenty of that to see.
We were no sooner back from Brisbane when some of us were lucky enough to take part in a 2 day workshop with the wonderful Wendy Williams. Wendy popped in to share her skills with us on her way home to pack , she leaves on Sunday to attend the International Quilt Festival in Houston where she will be demonstrating next week. We enjoyed a relaxing, fun filled and inspiring couple of days, thank you so much to Mary, our worshop co-ordinator, who liaised with Wendy and to Janet who popped in to organise morning tea for us on the first day. A big thank you also to Robyne who organised all the practical nitty gritty details of the visit. Most of all thank you to Wendy who inspired us and was so generous in sharing her knowledge.
Happy stitchers with some of Wendy’s beautiful work.
Those who did not participate in the workshop met in the Member’s room at Ferry Park where our 30th Birthday display will be mounted starting next week. Don’t forget to finish off your pin cushions, they need to be in next week.
Happy Stitching
Linda
